The importance of getting print settings right first time!
12th October 2015 by Kingfisher Press
Here at Kingfisher we like to make your print run as easily as possible. With our helpful guides you can make sure that having the correct settings for our printers and your designs will ensure your prints go through as smoothly as possible. Be it litho print, digital print or getting your prints BIG in our XL machines we like to ensure that your service you have with us is right every time.

We have guides on our website that show step by step instructions for items such as layers. Having layers helps to separate your print to show each step of the printing process. This means if you are die cutting, using different papers or sizes you can create each step without it effecting the other in the print run.
You can read all about how to use layers in your work on our PDF here.
We also have key suggestions and tips for uploading your files to us. We ask that:
-You ensure all folders are zipped before being uploaded to our FTP site. Single fires do not require zipping.
-Your document should be the same size as the finished job. For example, if your print is a business card (55mm x 90mm) make sure your document is the same size.
-Similarly ensure that if you have a different range of items in your print supplied then ensure these are all the correct sizes and appropriate to the print. For example, letterheads, business cards and compliment slips are in their appropriate sizes.
-Be sure to add bleed to your pages where appropriate
-Quard Xpress files should be supplied with all relative fonts and pictures by performing a ‘Collect for Output.’
-Indesign files should be supplied in the same way using the ‘Package’ function. (File – Package – Follow on Screen Instructions)
We also have a set of downloadable settings to add to your files before uploading to us to make sure they are correct for our programmes and printers which will lead to a successful print for you as well. You can see them here.
