Suffolk Printer Kingfisher Press achieves ISO14001:2015 accreditation.

Kingfisher Press Ltd are delighted to announce they have achieved ISO14001 accreditation!

The ISO14001 accreditation provides a framework for organisation policy, planning and actions to meet internal and external environmental management objectives. It addresses the management of environmental aspects and results in continual improvement of environmental performance. ISO14001 focuses on helping organisations grow while reducing their environmental impact and helping to achieve sustainable success.

What does Kingfisher Press’s ISO14001 accreditation mean for you as a client?

The UK is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, relative to 1990 levels. There is plenty of opportunity for businesses to reduce their own carbon emissions (cycle to work schemes, electric cars, low energy equipment, the list goes on) but your clients will still want print and their clients will still want print – so how does Kingfisher being ISO14001 have any impact on you as a business?

If you are pitching to a local council, major supermarket or environmentally conscious company, the chances are the fact that your printer is ISO14001 accredited will impress them.

Many large companies have a carbon reduction policy. General consensus amongst business heads is that in order to reach their 2050 target the government will impose an environmental tax of some kind and also encourage businesses to use accredited companies who are already part of the ‘green’ initiative.

It doesn’t cost anything for you to let your clients know your printer is ISO14001 accredited or to use a carbon balanced stock and we feel that not only does it show we are environmentally aware but that we are not just concerned about our business, but of the issue of sustainability overall.

What does this mean for Kingfisher Press as a business?

As part of the manufacturing sector, and using a living growing product as part of our resources, print can be viewed as a non-environmentally friendly business. But there aren’t many businesses who don’t use wood or paper in some way. So the ideal answer is to have an environmentally conscious business and do what we can to create sustainable and green policies and procedures to limit any impact on the environment that we may have.

We are already FSC® accredited which gives a chain of custody for paper providing an audit trail right back to the tree and papermill. All FSC® stocks are supplied by ethical and sustainable farming methods and forests.

We are also a Carbon Balanced Publication Printer, which means our business, not just our paper, has been assessed and the carbon offset with the World Land Trust.

So the ISO14001 accreditation, for Kingfisher Press as a business, means we are recognised as having procedures in place that will reduce our environmental impact and will continue to evolve and develop to remain as environmentally friendly as possible.
