Bringing Print Projects to Life: Barnardo’s Flash Cards and Card Boxes
At Kingfisher Press, we thrive on the challenge of bringing together multiple print elements to create cohesive, impactful products.
Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Barnardo’s on a unique project: producing a set of custom flash cards and a matching card box. These flash cards serve a meaningful purpose—they’re designed to facilitate conversations among young people, giving them a platform to share their experiences and connect with others.
The production of these materials involved meticulous attention to detail. We printed the boxes on sturdy 280gsm / 450 micron board, ensuring they could withstand regular use. The flash cards themselves were printed on premium 350gsm silk stock, chosen for its smooth finish and durability.
To further protect the printed surfaces, both the cards and the outer box were treated with an aqueous seal, a water-based coating applied inline during printing. This finish not only enhances the look and feel of the products but also extends their longevity, especially when handled frequently.
The boxes were then die-cut with precision to create an easy-to-use fold-up closing mechanism, and the flash cards were rounded at the corners to make them user-friendly.
After printing, we carefully collated the cards into sets, assembled the boxes, and inserted the cards to deliver a final project that met Barnardo’s exact specifications.
