Foil Blocking – A Champion Finish

Luxury High Value Print and Finishing

We were delighted to recently produce a premium A5 brochure for Ace Stud, the renowned Newmarket-based thoroughbred stud farm. Designed to reflect the prestige of their brand, this brochure is a perfect example of how thoughtful material choices and specialist finishing can elevate a printed piece into something truly exceptional.

The cover is printed on 350gsm offset uncoated stock, selected for its luxurious tactility and natural, understated elegance. This weight and texture immediately signal quality, offering a premium feel the moment the brochure is picked up. To complement this, the inner pages were produced on 200gsm coated material, ensuring photography and detailed imagery reproduce with clarity, depth, and richness.

To further enhance the visual impact of this, the cover features a combination of white matt and gold foil blocking detailing—an embellishment that adds a refined, high-end finish associated with luxury brands. The brochure is PUR bound, providing outstanding durability and a perfectly neat spine, making it ideal for repeated use and long-term presentation.

This project also demonstrates the value of combining print technologies. By using both Litho and our Jet Press, we were able to balance precision with efficiency—Jet Press for short-run, ultra-sharp colour reproduction, and Litho for consistent, high-quality output across longer runs. It’s this hybrid approach that allows us to tailor each project to its exact requirements, ensuring exceptional results.

Litho and Digital Print in Partnership

What this project clearly demonstrates is how litho and digital print work best when used together. Digital print, produced on our Jetpress 720s, is ideal for short-run, high-definition work where flexibility, speed and reduced waste are essential. It allows projects to be produced quickly and cost-effectively, while still delivering exceptional colour consistency and detail.

Litho print, on the other hand, excels when it comes to larger volumes, specialist finishes and long-run efficiency, producing beautifully sharp, vibrant results that enhance brand presence and impact. Combining the two ensures each element of a project is produced using the most appropriate and effective print method.

At Kingfisher Press, our strength lies in having both technologies under one roof, supported by a highly experienced team and a comprehensive in-house finishing department. This stability allows us to advise clients honestly and practically, choosing the right process for each job rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Whether a project requires the flexibility of digital print, the consistency of litho, or a seamless combination of both, our focus remains the same: delivering reliable quality, efficient production and print that truly works for its purpose.

If you’re a designer or business looking to create a bespoke printed piece—whether a luxury brochure, high-end packaging, or a mixed-process project with specialist finishes—Kingfisher Press can help bring your vision to life with a wide range of print and finishing.
